Hello, OCS Family! Thank you for a great final week before winter break.

We will take a break from OCS Weekly Updates over the holidays and return with more district news in January!

Winter Break Dates

The holiday season is upon us! We would like to remind our families that Winter Break starts on Monday, December 18, and we will welcome students back in the new year, on January 3. We will welcome staff back on January 2.

All OCS campuses will be closed for the holidays December 25-27 and January 1.

For the dates of December 20-22 and December 28-29, the OCS Central Office will be available to the public by appointment only.

Have a wonderful and restful holiday with those you love!

United Way graphic

OCS has wrapped up its annual campaign benefiting United Way of Onslow County, and our generous employees have pledged more than $152,500!

Each year, OCS asks its employees to donate to United Way of Onslow County, which provides funding for programs and agencies across our county. Programs supported by United Way include the CHEW program, which provides food for students in need, the Onslow women’s center, Sponsors for Academic Talent, Onslow Community Outreach, and more.

Onslow County Schools’ goal for this year was to raise $140,000 for United Way, and with your help, we exceeded that goal by more than $12,000!

Thank you to our United Way coordinators, and all who donated, for making a difference in our community!

Toys in a toy drive box

This week, our employees sent even more toys and food items over to Christmas Cheer!

Thank you again, OCS staff, for giving generously and sharing the Christmas spirit!

Parent Academy information

In January, Parent Academy will return! Join us on January 11 for a session designed to help students with disabilities prepare for post-secondary education.

Did you know that a trained K-9 has joined the OCS Safety and Security team?

In partnership with the Onslow County Sheriff’s Department, we have a new member of our district staff.  On Monday, December 11, Gus, a trained K-9, joined his handler, Deputy Penland, an SRO at White Oak High School. Gus and Deputy Penland will serve schools across the county.
