Board of Education Appoints Ken Reddic to Fill Open Seat

Kenneth Reddic Onslow County Schools announces the appointment of Kenneth Reddic to serve the remaining term of a non-partisan vacant seat on the Onslow County Board of Education.

“Mr. Reddic brings a wide range of experience from his different roles in the school system,” said Board Chair Pam Thomas. “He has a fresh perspective and will serve students, parents, staff and the community well.”

Reddic was one of eight individuals who submitted applications to be considered for the open seat. Board of Education members heard brief presentations from those seeking the appointment during a special meeting held on June 27, 2018. While Mr. Reddic and one other candidate were unable to attend in person, both did submit written statements which were read into the record by School Board Attorney Alex Erwin.

In his statement, Reddic said “it would be an honor to serve on the Onslow County Board of Education. I feel that I am qualified and prepared to be an active member of the school board and promise to serve the children and citizens in a professional and ethical manner.” He concluded by sharing, “my goals are to continue moving OCS forward, build relationships and put students first.”

Following presentations and statements from the applicants, board members voted for their preference on ballots which were collected and tabulated by Erwin. Reddic received 4 votes, while Climetine Clayburn and Wendell Boykins received one vote each. Following a motion and a second, the Board unanimously accepted Ken Reddic to fill the vacant seat. He will be officially sworn in later next month.
