Mrs. Caroline Dundore

Welcome to Blue Creek music! My name is Mrs. Caroline Dundore, and I am truly delighted and grateful to be teaching for my eighth full year at Blue Creek Elementary School! I grew up in a small town in  Pennsylvania - so small, we didn't have any school buses! Everybody walked to school. In high school, I played flute in the marching band and oboe in concert band and the Harrisburg Youth Symphony Orchestra. In 2013, I earned a Degree in Music Education from Millersville University of Pennsylvania, where I was also an oboe major. Then, in 2014 I moved to Jacksonville to begin teaching at Blue Creek. My husband is also a music teacher in Onslow County! We love teaching and playing music here in Jacksonville!

Teaching goes further back in my family than my husband and me: my grandfather was a P.E. teacher and coach, and my mom has been an art teacher, library aide, and kindergarten aide. My older sister also taught kindergarten and is now an early childhood education professor at the University of Alabama - roll tide!

Some of my favorite things to do outside of school are playing piano and giving piano lessons, trying out new recipes, doodling, writing in my journal, and reading books. I also listen to all kinds of music in my free time. One of my favorite musicians is Regina Spektor, and I listen to lots of movie soundtracks!

I feel proud to be able to say that I was the 2015-16, 2018-19, and 2020-21 Blue Creek Arts Teacher of the Year, as well as the 2017-18 Teacher of the Year at our school. I have been team leader of the specialists at Blue Creek for 7 years as well as Chairperson of the School Leadership Team. As a music teacher, my goal is for every student here at BCE to have a joyful, supported musical experience so they go to middle school with plans to continue making music. I hope my students and I will always experience the music room as our laboratory for learning, where we are not afraid to make mistakes, laugh, and try new things. And most of all, I hope all of my students will want to keep music a part of their lives for a long, long time!

  • My Professional Mission Statement:

To my students: I will respect you. I will listen to you. I will encourage you. I will recognize your differences and celebrate your strengths through music.
