The 2020-2021 school year is going to be fantastic. I am so excited that your child is in my kindergarten class this year at the wonderful Bell Fork Elementary School. My teacher assistant, Heather Stephens, is an amazing asset to our class. The start of the school year will be a bit different due to our current circumstances, but rest assured I will do everything in my power to make your child feel comfortable, safe, and secure. I know you will have many questions, feel free to email me at school and I will get back to you as soon as possible. I will be setting up a DOJO account for you as the main source of communication for our class.
Your child will have a green folder in their back pack that will go home every night. I need you to check this folder everynight in case there is important information that you need to be made aware of regarding school. Your child will unpack this green folder each day from their back pack, this is the start of our procedures and routines. Your child will experience a great amount of growth during this important kindergarten year. It is imperative that we all work together so your child knows we all care about his/her well being.
Your child will be learning how to read this year which is truly exciting to not only your child, but also exciting for me as well. We have a new phonics program and writing program that we are excited to launch this year. Your child will be interacting with our math IReady program which has a whole group, small group, and an independent computer component. We will be using Sanford Harmony in our classroom which is a school wide program promoting positive interactions at school. Ask your child about "Z".
Your child will have specials during the week which include library, art, music, computer/spanish, and physical education. The class will have recess everyday (weathering permitting). As a class we walk and talk on the track together for two laps, then as a class we go over to the playground to interact with other kindergarteners in a playful manner.
I encourage you to stay in touch with me using the communication log in the green folder or DOJO. Any dismissal changes need to be put in writing with specific information regarding the change. Please click on the other tabs on my teacher page for more detailed information.
Thank you for working with your child everynight!!!
