Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Arnold

Welcome everybody to third grade! My name is Ms. Arnold. I'm originally from Okinawa, Japan. But moved around a lot as a child of the military before we settled here in Jacksonville, NC where I grew up. I have a little boy named Jeremy, he's one and a fluffy 5-year-old chihuahua named Button. I went on to graduate with honors from East Carolina University in 2018. This will be my third year teaching. Last year I was at Onslow Virtual School teaching third grade and at Hunters Creek before that also in third. Therefore, some of you may recognize my face from around the school from my first year. I'm very excited for this opportunity to teach our Gators again and look forward to working with all of you!

  • Behavior Management

I have a clip chart behavior management system in my classroom. I understand any and every student can have a rough day, with my clip chart system they can always work their way back from below expectations to the top. Students earn digital points at the end of the day for good behavior, as well as academic achievements, which can be used to redeem for the whole class and individual rewards.

Please also familiarize yourself with the HCE Gator SNAP behavior matrix

  • When's the best time to schedule a parent/teacher conference?

    Posted by:

I am happy to work within anyone's schedule. I understand life and work can be rather hectic. If you would like to set up a time with me, please just email me or leave a message on Class Dojo. My available times to hold conferences are between 7:00-7:45 am before school and 4:00-5:00 pm after school. My afterschool availability is dependent on if I have precious engagements in place such as staff meetings. Please note there will be periodic parent-teacher conferences throughout the year for student progress updates that I will have more open availability for meetings at those times. I am able to do both in-person and virtual conferences through Microsoft TEAMs.

  • How will contact work between parents and teacher?

    Posted by:

Our class will have a ClassDojo account that will be used to send out notifications and reminders to parents/guardians. Also, parents and guardians will be able to monitor the points your child earns and loses in class. Microsoft Teams will be used for parent-teacher conferences. Also, you will be able to check and see what the day's lessons consist of. ***Please note lesson plans are very fluid and can change daily to meet the students' needs are. Emails can be exchanged if anyone is unable to access Class Dojo for notifications/reminders. Please note I do not give out my personal phone number. If you are needing to speak only through phone call we can arrange a time and day for me to call you from the school phone or you may leave a message with the school secretary and I will call you when I am first available.
