Mrs. Crystal Morton

It is great to be a Pirate again!

I have been teaching for twenty-one years--eighteen years in elementary schools in Carteret County and three years at Swansboro Middle School.  At SBMS, I have taught 6th grade ELA, and 7th grade ELA and SS.  This year, I am happy to be "digging" in to Ancient History in 6th grade SS.

As to my educational background and areas of licensure, I graduated from Swansboro High School.  (My Swansboro High School was the main campus where 7th and 8th grades are. That is why I am a Pirate again!)  Immediately after high school,  I earned an A.A.S. degree from Coastal Carolina Community College.   I later received a B.A. in Elementary Education, with a minor in history from UNC-W.  Besides being certified to teach all areas K-6, I am also certified for middle and high school social studies, middle school ELA, and as a K-12 reading specialist.

I am married and have two children and two grandchildren.  My husband Steve is a mail carrier in Havelock.  We have a dog named Minge who was a stray that showed up at our door.

My son Travis and his wife Erin have two sons--Clayton and Brooks--and live right down the road in Bogue.  Travis writes code for a financial firm.  Erin works for a healthcare billing process improvement company where they try to streamline medical billing and procedures. They are expecting another baby in late January.  (I am so excited!)

My daughter Rachel is a driver for UPS.  Rachel is the only female driver in her building.  She loves her job, but she works ridiculously long days.  She and her dog Luna (who was a shelter dog) live in Greenville.

I am very happy to be part of the team at Swansboro Middle School and the 6th grade Appalachian team and look forward to meeting and working with all my students and their parents.  If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.  An e-mail is probably the quickest (and certainly the most convenient) way to reach me.  My email address is .

Here's to a great 2022-2023 school year!
