Setting objectives and providing feedback ensure students understand what they are supposed to learn, how the skills or knowledge will need to be applied, and how they will demonstrate their learning. This category of strategies also provides students with information about the progress they are making towards established learning targets. As you can see highlighted in the OCS instructional Framework above, setting objectives (learning targets) and providing feedback are key elements of the framework and are included in across domains. The goal of effectively implementing this category of strategies is to ensure students know what they are learning and what they need to improve their performance.
