It is my pleasure to introduce myself to you as assistant principal of Jacksonville Commons Elementary. I’m entering my 24th year in education. Being an educator is a responsibility that I take very seriously. It is the utmost importance for me to make EVERY day count for EVERY student in Onslow County Schools.

My educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education K-6 and a Masters in School Administration and Curriculum and Instruction from East Carolina University. I have been National Board Certified in Early Childhood Generalist since 2003.

My professional experiences include teaching in the Craven County School system from 1997-2017. I spent 15 years teaching Kindergarten at Bangert Elementary school from 1997-2012 and 5 years teaching at Brinson Elementary School from 2012-2017. During my tenure as a teacher, I have had the opportunity to serve in leadership capacities within the classroom, school, and community. The last four years I served as assistant prinicpal of Silverdale Elementary School.

When I’m not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and snuggling with my dog Reese. I love the beach, attending ECU football games, and watching my nephew (Johnathan) and niece (Ava) play baseball and softball. The greatest sound in the world to me is being called Aunt Kelly.
