• About The School

Morton Elementary School opened as a small, rural elementary school in 1969. It is located just outside the city of Jacksonville, in eastern North Carolina. Today, it has grown to include over 700 students in Pre-Kindergarten through fifth grade. It is one of 37 schools in the Onslow County School system. It was named for sisters, "Miss Bertha" and "Miss Sadie" Morton. Together the Morton sisters taught eighty-eight years in our county school system, most of this time in the White Oak area.

Morton Elementary opened its beautiful new building in August of 2009. The project added a new multipurpose room, media center, computer lab, stage, a series of classrooms, new office facilities, updated kitchen, and expanded dining room. The new structure allows for anticipated student growth as more families settle in our area. Our school colors are blue and yellow, and our mascot is the Mustang. Go Mustangs!
