  • What is Academic Derby?

Academic Derby is a scholastic competition done in quiz-show format. Teams of students from Onslow County Schools complete to earn points by answering questions. We will be competing in three matches and if we win we will be eligible for the playoff rounds. The matches will be played from January through March. The matches will be podcast on channel 10 or you may view them on Onslow County Schools website.

    How can I participate?

Any JCMS student who is interested in being on the Academic Derby team can take a test with Ms. Maupin-Thomas (our coach) during the Fall semester. Students selected to be on the team will attend practices and games throughout the year.
