About Me

I am Ms. Adams and I am an Exceptional Children's Inclusion Teacher for Swansboro High School.  My area of expertise is supporting students who struggle in Math and English. I teach 3 inclusion classes a day and am a caseload manager for over 35 students. I have been an Exceptional Children's Teacher since 1998 for North Carolina. I have taught in Sampson, Cumberland, Carteret and Onslow Counties. I graduated from ECU in 1993 with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. I started teaching elementary school in 1994 but soon realized I found great satisfaction when working with students who needed more support and guidance than the non-disabled student. So, in 1998, I returned to college and earned my add-on teaching license in Special Education with a concentration in Mental Disabilities from Fayetteville State University. In 2002, I became a National Board-Certified Teacher in the area of Special Education. I renewed my Board Certification in 2012 and expect to renew in 2023.

I was born in Carteret County and raised in Cape Carteret. I graduated from West Carteret High School in 1988. My mother still resides in the home I grew up in. I am 8th generation to Swansboro and plan on retiring to this area once my career comes to an end. I live with my 2 daughters and they both attend Swansboro Schools. I couldn't be any happier than to have them attend Swansboro Schools and feel they are receiving the best education possible.
