Bio

I have been teaching for 14 years.  I was born and raised in Columbus County, NC and graduated from East Columbus High School in 1994 (Gator Pride). After high school, I attended Winston- Salem State University (WSSU) graduated with a BS in Therapeutic Recreation. When I moved to Virginia,  I worked as a Certified Recreational Therapist (CTRS) at Central State Psychiatric Hospital and University of Virginia  Health Systems-Psychiatric Unit (UVa).  I went back to school and earned my teaching certification from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU).  I have taught in 2 different school systems; Grafton Schools (private) and Southwest High School.  I continue to expect the impossible from all of our students with and without disabilities.
