Mr. Chris Meek

Welcome to Mr. Meek's Page! I hope this information will be benificial to both parents and students. On this page, you will learn a little about me beyond being a teacher, my schedule, a link to the digital textbook and my sylabus which includes classroom policies and procedures.

I have a strong belief that a child is ultimately responsible for their own learning. My job is to facilitate that learning by providing material, activities, opportunities to collaborate with peers, and an open environment that allows students to feel safe in asking questions and seeking guidance from me.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. Together, parent, student and myself make up the learning team that will help your child be successful. Your child's success is my primary goal.

Mr. Meek The Professional

I have been teaching since 1995. I began as a part time teacher at Amityville High School's night school program and worked with homebound students as well. In 1996 I began my first full time teaching assignment at Concord High School in New York City. In 2001 I moved to Wilmington, where I still live, and began teaching at Williston Middle School, then in 2008 Murray Middle School. In anticipation of winning a board of education seat in New Hanover County, I came to Northside. Although I did not win the seat, I was still a winner having found my most rewarding teaching experience yet, teaching your children. I have also been an adjunct professor at Miller Motte College in Wilmington.

My curriculum spans from introduction to basic computer skills to advanced history classes. Currently, I have been teaching American History I and II. I am most interested in law and government. In 2009, I was part of the Nortch Carolina DPI's Social Studies Curriculum writing team working on the 12th grade elective, Civil Rights class curriculum.
