Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year. This is my first year at Southwest Middle.  I will be teaching 8th grade science a subject I taught along with social studies for 3 years at Trexler Middle, when I first came to North Carolina.  I taught at Dixon Middle for nine years where I taught 7th grade social studies, science, AVID elective as well as being the Yearbook coordinator for seven of those years.   This will be my 12th year teaching in Onslow County.   I look forward to teaching your child the eighth grade Science curriculum.   My classroom is always open to guest speakers that have worked in a field they feel would be interesting to students and aligned with our curriculum. Please contact me if you are interested in being an in person or virtual guest speaker.   Although I will not be teaching Social Studies at SWMS, I am certified and I do bring historical information into my science lessons as they are intertwined.   Finally, please note that email is the best way to contact me, but know that I will not respond while classes are in session.  I am looking forward to my new adventure at SWMS and excited that I will again be teaching 8th grade science as I have missed teaching the curriculum.

My Bachelors of Art degree is from Aquinas College, Grand Rapids, Michigan.  I am certified in Secondary Education in History, Biology, and Middle School Social Studies and Science.  I am currently working on my masters in Library Science at East Carolina Univiersity (ECU) go Pirates!
