Degrees and Certifications:

I graduated from The University Of North Carolina Wilmington in December of 2015 with my BA in Elementary Education. I am licensed to teach grades K-through 6.

Mrs. Whitney

My name is Alice Whitney. Originally, I am from Farmington, Connecticut. When I was two years old, my family and I moved to Hubert, North Carolina. My family is very important to me. On Halloween, my husband and I will celebrate our sixth wedding anniversary. Fall is my favorite time of year, the colors are beautiful and the weather is perfect.  My husband and I love to be outside. Camping and kayaking are our favorite outdoor activities. Animals are a big part of my life. We have two dogs, five cats, five goats, 10 ducks, thirty chickens, three peacocks, and six turkeys. (our farm is still growing).  They are all very spoiled and loved.

I have wanted to be an educator from the time I was in elementary school. My career goal is to earn a Master's degree in administration and become an Elementary School Principal.

Experience

  • I am excited about beginning my sixth full year of teaching at Morton Elementary. This school year I will be teaching first grade! I started in February 2017 as a second-grade teacher and continued in second grade until June of 2019. Before my time at MES, I was a teaching assistant for five years for Exceptional Children and Regular Education at Queens Creek Elementary.

During college, I worked with various grade levels in K-12 and tutored several students in grades K-5 in math and reading.

As a teacher assistant, I was a coach for the QCE Dance Team and Girls on the Run.
