Ms. 'B' - Becca Herdering

My name is Becca Herdering and I am so thrilled to be here at Southwest Middle School! I am permanently new to the area, as I lived here from 2000-2005 as a military spouse, but am now here to stay! I was raised on music and fell in love with band in school. Music has enriched my life so much, and I am so excited to share this gift with you all. Music has a way of bringing us together and bridging the gaps that exist in our world. It also helps adolescents with cognitive reasoning, math, and even social skills. When we play music together, we must really listen to each other, and everyone must do their part for a worthwhile performance. There is no better example of teamwork than that!

I’m looking forward to a great year in band, with lots of musical opportunities for students as we get to know each other and the instruments that we have chosen. 

I am really excited about getting to know all of you and sharing my knowledge and love of music with each and every student. There will be lots of opportunities this year with performances, fun-raisers, and contests for us to learn more about each other while we grow together in music!
