Mrs. Jessica Hanna
Hello,
It is an honor and joy to teach the Orchestra program along with 7th grade Guitar and 6th grade General Music class this year at SouthWest. I have studied music education at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education from the University of Arizona Global Campus, and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Liberty University.
My parents had me in music lessons since I was 6 years old, and I have played piano, violin, and trumpet, but my main instrument is percussion! Having well over 30 years of performance under my belt, I have played in orchestral ensembles, jazz bands, concert bands, praise teams, marching bands and the General Butler Vagabonds and Bluecoats drumcorps. I am also a United States Marine Corps Veteran, having served as a Marine Musician where I had the opportunity to travel all over the United States to perform.
We lived in Hubert, NC for 8 years before being stationed in Okinawa, Japan, and moved back to Jacksonville in 2019. My husband and I have five children, five chickens, two cats, and one St. Bernard. In our free time, you can find us at a high school football game, traveling to a national park to go biking, or at church. In my spare time, when I have it, I like to garden, draw, and make jewelry.
