  • Welcome to the 2020-2021 Onslow Virtual School!

Teachers will need your help to make sure students are staying on top of their work, taking notes in their notebooks, and turning assignments in.  Below are ways students will work from home.

Internet-It is extremely important that students have internet access.  Please contact a provider if you do not have current access to the internet or a hot spot through your cellular provider. Students can log into everything through their 1:1 icon on their laptop.

Microsoft Teams-Students should log in daily for teacher instructions and assignments.  All fifth-grade teachers will be teaching through Teams. .  Teams has a “meet now” feature where teachers will be able to present on-line video lessons with students.  Students will need to be present for these lessons.

*Below is a list of websites and programs that we will be assigning students to work in and they may also go to these on their own for extra practice.

Study Island- Students should log into their Study Island for lessons and assignments.  Students should always take notes on lessons.  Please make sure students are taking notes on assignments in their appropriate subject notebook.

One Note in Microsoft office- Students can see their one note notebook for any notebook without the internet. Students must sync any new material in the notebook or any new submissions with the internet.  To see One Note without being online, students must type OneNote into the search screen at the bottom of the computer home screen, click on it, and open it!  There will be a lot of notes in there for individual subjects. We will use these notebooks to post videos, power points, lessons, and collaborate with students in an online school setting.  We can also create assignments, grade assignments, and utilize notebooks for all subjects and many assignments.

Clever-will give student access to many sites.

Ed City-This will be utilized for lessons and activities.

School Net-utilized for classwork, quizzes, and test.

Khan Acadamy-can be used for all subjects to give lessons and assignments in math.

    Sheppard's Software-Science

iReady/Ready materials for math.  This includes both math books!

    Reading Express-ELA

    Epic- ELA

    Destiny/NC Wise Owl for reading-ELA

    Read Works ELA

Pearson learning will be used for most subjects, more information coming soon!

Math-Please log into Teams daily to see assignments.  Students will be given instructions on what to complete in their instruction book and practice books.  Students will have notes to complete from their online math notebook and will have assignments, lessons, and practices on Study Island.  Ed City will have assignments for students to complete for math.  Quizzes will be done on Study Island.  Students will have iReady diagnostic testing 3 times a year. They must try their best, with no help on all of these diagnostic tests.  These diagnostic tests will provide student lessons on their own level to work with independently.
