I believe we are given opportunities to make a difference in the lives of others, some heed the calling and some ignore it. Teachers are the motivators, educators, mentors, innovators, and mediators. They are the glue that holds classrooms together. I want to teach elementary art because I feel that they are the children that need the art classroom the most. They are the ones that cannot speak up for themselves and need the outlet that art can provide. Art has helped me through the darkest chapters in my life, and I hope that by teaching children art, it may help them one day too. My art gives me the opportunities to express my emotions through productive means and I will strive to give my students the same opportunities.
I spent fifteen years in the United States Marine Corps working in the Logistics Field and wanted to find another opportunity to enhance the lives of those around me. After my time in the USMC, I decided to go back to college and finish my art degree. I graduated from East Carolina University with a Bachelor's in Fine Arts- Art Education. Go Pirates! I have three children, one grandson, one granddaughter, and an amazing husband that supports my crazy art teacher life!
