Mr. Eric LeFurge

Greetings Gator Nation!

I'm Mr. LeFurge and I am incredibly excited about the school year!  I was born in Seoul, Korea and was adopted when I was 4 months old.  I grew up in the small town of Chelsea, Michigan.  Teaching is something that I have always wanted to do when I was young.  I graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 2000 with a degree in Elementary Education, focusing on math and physics.  I obtained my Graduate degree in Instructional Technology in 2014 from East Carolina University.

This will be my 22nd year teaching.  I taught middle school for the first 5 years before moving to Jacksonville, NC.  I started teaching 2nd and 3rd grade at Southwest Elementary.  From there, I moved to Meadowivew when the building opened.  I taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades while at MVE.  I made the move to Richands Primary (now called Heritage Elementary) and taught 2nd grade for 3 years.  I made the move back to middle school and taught technology at Southwest Middle.  It was then I realized that my passion was elementary children.  I taught 3rd grade at Wallace Elementary in Duplin County for 2 years.  I then made the move to New Bern to teach 4th grade at J.T. Barber Elementary.  I have come back to Onslow County to hopefully finish out my career.

I have been married for 21 years and my wife and I have 2 children.  My wife was a teacher, but she has found her niche working for a daycare.  My son will be a 7th grader at New Bridge Middle and my daughter will be a 5th grader at Parkwood Elementary.  When I'm not teaching, you can probably find me on the soccer field.  I currently coach my son's U15 soccer team at JASA.  I am a Garfield freak!  You will see lots of Garfield around my classroom.  I also love penguins!  I know this is going to be a great year!!!  If you have any questions or thoughts, please don't hesitate to contact me!
