Ms. Allyson Gallagher

I was born and raised in Jacksonville and I'm a product of Onslow County Schools. I graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1993. It is my priviledge to be your child's Kindergarten teacher this year and a honor for me to be able to give back to my local community.  My journey as an educator began as a teacher’s assistant in Onslow County, while attending UNCW and earning a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. I have always wanted to be a teacher and come from a family of educators. This is my 18th year of teaching and I am proud to say that they have all been at Dixon!  I have also taught first and second grade. I have a son, Jacob, who is in 10th grade this year!  He keeps me busy along with our Labrador Mira and Terrier Tyson.  I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, relaxing on the beach, and going on walks with my dogs.

My Philosophy

My heart-felt beliefs have always been that all children can and do learn, maybe not in the same way or on the same day, but they can and will. My role as a teacher is to reach my students’ individual needs and instill life-long learning through a variety of instructional strategies and techniques that engage and encourage students to be problemsolvers, thinkers, and decision-makers as I mold the minds of our future leaders.
