Mr. Shawn M. Lovitt

Hello Pirate Family,

I am a native of Onslow County.  I am an alumni of Jacksonville High School, class of 93. I attended East Carolina University to earn a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education.  I worked in Pitt County for twelve years, where I taught third grade for two years and fifth grade for ten years.  After returning home to Jacksonville, I worked at Carolina Forest for three years.  There I worked as a K-5 science teacher before returning to the classroom for my final year. The last five years in the classroom, I had the privilege of teaching at Summersill Elementary, where I attended many years ago.  I received my MSA from ECU in May of 2021.  I have been married to my wife, Dana, for 23 years and we have two children, Matthew, who is 19 and attending Chowan University.  My daughter, Leah, who is 11, attends Newbridge Middle School.  My wife is the school nurse who also works for OCS.  I've enjoyed being part of the Pirate Family the past 2 years and look forward to many years to come.
