My name is Stephanie Matthews.  I love calling North Carolina home.  I was born and raised in Swansboro.  I graduated from Swansboro High School in 1993.  After graduation, I attended the University of North Carolina Wilmington, where after many years of starting and stopping, I finally obtained a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.  I worked for 4 ½ years in Jacksonville in the medical insurance and billing industry when I decided to go back to school to complete my lifelong dream of becoming a teacher.  It was the best decision I have ever made!  I completed my certificate for Elementary Education in May 2007 and began teaching in August of that same year.  

I was given my first teaching position at Sand Ridge Elementary School where I taught 3rd grade for two years before moving to my favorite grade to teach, KINDERGARTEN!!  I taught Kindergarten for 3 years and then looped up to 1st grade.  Then I moved out to Morton Elementary School where I taught 2nd grade for one year and then Kindergarten the following two years.  Finally it was time to come back to Swansboro!  I have been teaching Kindergarten at Swansboro Elementary School for the past 4 years and I am looking forward to starting my next adventure of teaching Kindergarten for Onslow Virtual School!!

I have been married to my wonderful husband for 13 years.  We have a super sweet furbaby named Maggie who is 9 years old.  We enjoy living in Swansboro and spending time riding bikes, bowling and hanging out with friends and family.  Our favorite thing to do is travel!
