Degrees and Certifications:

BA Elementary Education, Magna Cum Laude Elementary Mathematics Education Specialist Certificate

Mrs. Linell Clark

Education

I graduated with honors from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, earning my B.A. in Elementary Education (K-6) with a concentration in Mathematics and Technology.  In addition, I earned my Associate's degree with a concentration in Business Management from Pace University, Pleasantville, NY.  I have received my Elementary Mathematics Education Certificate at ECU, and am currently pursuing my Masters degree in Elementary Mathematics Education.

Experience

This will be my tenth year at Southwest Elementary School.  I am thrilled to return to teaching 5th grade mathematics and science after teaching all subjects in the 3rd grade for the previous three years.  Even though I love to read and will never turn down reading a good book, I do love to teach mathematics.     At SWE, I have served as a member of our school's planning team and the math planning group.  I am currently the grade chair for our 5th grade team and the leader of our Science Olympiad team.  I have successfully completed the required LETRS training which supports our new science of reading curriculum.

About Me

I live in Hampstead with my husband and twin sons.  My favorite thing to do in my spare time is to go to the beach with a good book.  Taking a walk on the beach, listening to the surf, watching the waves, and looking for sea glass and sharks' teeth are some of the reasons I love being at the beach.  I enjoy reading books written by many different authors, but I must say that the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling is one of my absolute favorites.  I am also a fan of listening to audiobooks while driving to and from work.  Baking cakes, cookies, and brownies is another one of my favorite pastimes and have always been known by my friends and family as the one to bring the yummy dessert.  I love to scrapbook, but I rarely find the time to sit down and accomplish getting my planned albums finished.  I continue to thoroughly enjoy every opportunity available to further my own education and am thrilled that I will be completing my Master's degree program this Spring; my love of learning has never faded.  My hope in my teaching is to inspire that love of learning within my students.
