Mrs. Downs’ First Grade Class
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your child to Southwest Elementary. I hope you had an enjoyable and relaxing summer. I’m excited to be back and am looking forward to a great year. Please take note of the following important reminders.
Children begin entering the classroom at 7:45. Students are considered tardy if arriving after 8:15 a.m. Arriving on time ensures your child gets his/her day off to a strong start and minimizes classroom disruptions for others.
Parents are the most important people in a child’s life, so we need to work together for the benefit of your child. I need your support in my academic, homework and discipline efforts here at school. In return, I will keep you informed about all aspects of your child’s experiences at school. With school and home working together, I know that each and every student can have his or her most successful first grade year.
All teachers at SWES will be using Class Dojo as a communication tool. Please make sure you are on the look-out for the class code to sign up.
Students will have work that will be required to completed at home. The work that will be completed at home will strengthen the skills they learn at school and the work will go along with the remote learning. This work will go home weekly and should be returned to school. Students are also encouraged to read at home 20 minutes each day.
There is a $5.00 instructional fee and a $1.00 art supplies fee. The $6.00 total should be paid as soon as possible.
Change of clothes
Please send a change of clothes to keep at school. In the event your child needs to change, we will have an outfit on-hand.
Please send a healthy snack to school with your child each day. We will have a snack time each afternoon.
If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to contact me. I can be reached by e-mail at email@example.com or by phone at 910-347-0900. In advance, thank you for your cooperation and all you do to support your child’s learning! I am thrilled to be a part of your child’s academic and social growing experience!
