The Onslow County School System strives to provide a safe and healthy environment for all students and employees. The system also strives to maintain a balance between the needs to educate all eligible students, to protect students’ and employee’s rights, and to control communicable diseases, including COVID 19. Therefore, the decision was made to return to full-time in-person learning to the greatest extent possible with the beginning of the 2021-22 school year.
In order to continue to ensure a healthy learning environment for students and staff during the 2022-23 school year, the Onslow County School System will adhere to established Board of Education Policies 4230 – Communicable Diseases – Students, 4230.5 – Short Term Communicable Diseases – Students, and 7262 Communicable Diseases – Employees to mitigate the spread of communicable diseases.
In order to further mitigate the spread, Onslow County Schools will continue to encourage frequent and proper hand washing, along with the regular cleaning of high-touch areas throughout the schools. In addition, a deep cleaning of classrooms reporting a high incidence of illness or infestation will occur.
The Onslow County School System will continue to consider CDC guidance and consult with local health officials to determine appropriate protocols for persons who test positive for COVID-19.
