Mrs. Connie Batts

Growing up in a family of teachers taught me the value of education.  My love of children with special needs began in the early eighties when I spent the summer as a camp counselor working with exceptional children.  This experience encouraged me to pursue my college degree in special and elementary education.  I continued this path, attaining my Master of Education in Special Education with a concentration in supervision.  In Easton, Pennsylvania, I held many positions, including teacher, supervisor and associate director of special education.  As the road led me to North Carolina, I made the choice to return to the classroom to directly affect students with varied abilities.  During my thirty-six year tenure as an educator, I have come to realize that all of my students need a champion. My personal goal has been to be their advocate. The ultimate achievement is to teach my students how to advocate for themselves. Relationships with my students and their families are an essential component in building the future of my students.

My husband Randy and I enjoy spending time with our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. In our spare time, we like to go boating and scuba diving.

I look forward to a great 2022-2023 school year and serving the Coastal Community.
