Digital Learning Week 2
Day 1
Reading/Writing
There are various strategies we will learn throughout the year to make us “better readers”! One strategy is to make connections. Readers usually make connections to an experience, another story, or something from life.
Listen to A Bad Seed
Tell your parent if you have you ever had a bad day. How is it similar to the Bad Seed? How was it different?
Write and complete the following sentence:
I had a bad day when_____________________.
Check your writing:
Does it start with a capital? Is it followed by lower case letters?
Does it end with a period?
Does the sentence make sense?
Does it sound right?
Math
Adding is an awesome concept and we will begin reviewing it by counting on. Music is a fabulous way to bring back prior knowledge. Please listen to Counting On Song. Watch Counting On First Grade.
Students will have access to math activities online soon and will keep their iReady math workbook at home.
Please complete the following addition facts:
4+3 = ______ 5+2=_____ 0+9=_____
4+1 = ______ 6+3=_____ 7+3=_____
5+3 = ______ 4+4=_____ 5+0=_____
Social Studies
A good citizen is a person who respects others and their property, is helpful, considerate, and willing to put others first, respects the environment and does not damage it in anyway, and is well mannered and pleasant.
Show me what a good citizen looks like Good Citizen.
Day 2
Reading/Writing
We are going to keep making connections with our text. I really like this story and it illustrates how I feel about tapioca pudding! Watch Eat Your Peas.
What food do you dislike?
Write and complete the following sentences:
I don’t like to eat________ because __________________.
Check your writing:
Does it start with a capital? Is it followed by lower case letters?
Does it end with a period?
Does the sentence make sense?
Does it sound right?
Math
Continue practicing adding on. Remember that when we add, number get BIGGER. Here is a fabulous song to help us remember: When You Add with a Pirate
Here’s a little more review: Adding On
Please complete the following addition facts:
4+6 = ______ 3+3=_____ 5+4=_____
7+2 = ______ 5+3=_____ 8+1=_____
4+7 = ______ 6+4=_____ 4+3=_____
Social Studies
Lets continue to be model citizens! Watch Citizenship Lesson and complete Citizenship Activity
Day 3
Reading
It’s our final virtual day this week! Lets make these lessons a little more fun to celebrate!
Listen to Mosquitos Can’t Bite Ninjas.
What makes you a ninja? Well you wear a ninja mask at school and walk quietly like a ninja in hallways. Draw yourself as a ninja wearing whatever ninja mask you wear to school. Show your parent your ninja moves! Read your sight words to your parents while acting like a ninja!
Math
Lets get to adding! Watch Addition Review
You are not done being a ninja! Walk around your house and count items while acting like a ninja. How many pets do you have? How many grapes are in the fridge? How many windows do you have? Now try to create addition sentences with some of the things you counted.
Social Studies/Writing
Write and complete the following sentences:
I am a good citizen because _________________. Include an illustration of you being a good citizenship.
