Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Albertia Burgess

Welcome to 7th grade ELA!! I am excited to be your teacher this year, and I know we will make tremendous progress towards our academic goals.

My name is Albertia Burgess, and Jacksonville, NC is my hometown.  For the past decade, I have taught high school English in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg school district.  In addition to teaching high school English, I also taught SAT, ACT, GRE and TEAS test prep at the community college level.  This year, I will continue gaining collegiate-level teaching experience by instructing a Transitional English course at the community college here in Jacksonville.

Though this is my first year teaching at the middle school level, I am confident that my background is suitable for creating an engaging yet academically progressive virtual environment.  With this in mind, my goal this year will be to assist all of my students in gaining one year, or more, of content-based growth.

For the first week, we will spend some time getting adjusted to online instruction by familiarizing ourselves with login information, virtual tools, school/classroom expectations, and course breakdowns.  Before we move into heavy instruction, it is KEY that we establish expectations for both the teacher and student.
