OCS Reopening Information

  • Onslow County Schools is committed to the health and safety of our school community. Local instruction plans have been approved by the Onslow County Board of Education, and have been built around guidance from state and local education and health officials.

When state officials announced the three potential plans for school operation, OCS staff prepared local plans for the potential implementation of Plans A, B, and C. As defined by the state, Plan A requires minimal social distancing, meaning all students would attend school in-person with additional safety measures in place, such as temperature screenings, social distancing where possible and minimized mixing of student groups. Plan B requires moderate social distancing, meaning schools would open at a reduced capacity with additional safety measures in place. Plan C requires full-time remote learning for all students. The district is prepared to switch between the plans as conditions and/or state mandates require.

Information, links and material in this section of our site are designed to provide a central location for Onslow County Schools' school reopening preparation and planning efforts and will be updated as needed.

The most important thing students, staff and families can do to help slow the spread of COVID-19 is continue to follow everyday preventive actions recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) and the Onslow County Health Department (OCHD):

    • Wear a face covering.
    • Wash hands or use hand sanitizer regularly.
    • Stay away from those who are sick, and stay home if you are sick.
    • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

Thank you for doing your part to keep our community healthy!
