Old RES Bricks
Posted by Willie Jarman on 12/14/2020We are excited to share that OCS will be distributing memorial bricks from the old Richlands Elementary School on December 16! Those who had already emailed the district and requested a brick by December 11 can pick theirs up between 9 and 11 a.m. in the front parking lot of Richlands High School. All others can pick up a brick on a first-come, first-served basis later that day between 3 and 5 p.m. There will be no cost for the memorial bricks, but those who request a brass marker for their brick will be asked to consider giving a $5 cash donation to cover the cost of the marker. Credit and debit cards cannot be accepted for any donations.

Parent Survey for Returning to Plan A
Posted by Willie Jarman on 10/26/2020Parent Interest Survey
The purpose of this survey is to gather information for planning. It is not a registration or enrollment form and does not commit your student to in-person or virtual learning.
Currently, the Governor’s executive order and the NC Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) requires school districts to remain in Plan B for students in grades 6-12. OCS’s Plan B includes two days per week of in-person instruction with Cohort A attending on Mondays and Tuesdays and Cohort B attending on Thursdays and Fridays. In addition to in-person learning, OCS also offers Onslow Virtual School (OVS), which is the virtual option required by the executive order.
Although the state has not determined whether students in grades 6-12 will transition to Plan A and be able to attend school five days per week, or remain in Plan B for the second semester, OCS would like to know what you would choose for your student if options are available. Therefore, we are surveying parents of secondary students to determine the level of interest in transferring into or out of an in-person setting for the second semester, which begins on January 5, 2021. Information from the survey will be used to inform district planning efforts. If the district plan includes options for transitioning between in-person and virtual settings, you will be asked to complete an official choice and commitment form.
Thank you for completing this survey and helping us collect information that will inform OCS options for parents and students.
