I graduated from Appalachian State University in 2006 with a Bachelors of Science in Secondary History Education, with a focus in U.S. History.
In 2013, I received my Masters of Education in Instructional Systems Technology from the UNC-Charlotte in conjunction with NCState's Friday Institute for Educational Innovation and Appalachian State as a member of the Impact V Cohort
My family moved to Onslow County when I was about 10, where I attended the Dixon school system. After I graduated from Dixon High School, I attended Appalachian State University. Go Moutaineers! At Appalachian, I played Rugby and fenced for the Appalachian State Fencing Team, while graduating with departmental and university honors. After graduation, I moved to Raleigh, where I taught Social Studies at East Wake High School, in Wendell, NC. A year later, I moved back home to Onslow County and taught at Coastal Carolina Community College and Jones Senior High School in Jones County, NC. During that time I married my wonderful husband, adopted a few cats, and a dog and received my Masters Degree in Instructional Systems Technology. My hobby is, with the help of my husband, remodeling our old house.
