Lora Falkowsky

Hello, and welcome to my teacher page! My name is Lora Falkowsky, and I am truly delighted and proud to be a part of this stellar Monarch Team!  I am currently in my 6th year of teaching science here at Northside, and am enjoying my 11th year of teaching. Although Jacksonville is now my home,  I grew up in northwest Indiana, 60 miles outside of Chicago. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health Sciences from Purdue University, and initially out of college, I worked for 10 years in the private sector, both in managed care and working for a large pharmaceutical company. Wanting to make more of "a difference" in this world, I went back to school to get my secondary science teaching certification from Bethel College. I am currently teaching, Honors Physics, AP Environmental Science, and Honors Earth and Environmental Science.  I could possibly best be described as a realistic idealist, and my mission as a teacher is to help my students identify their own unique interests, strengths, talents, and opportunities for growth, and to assist them in  becoming the best versions of themselves. In my free time, I love reading, running my overly energetic dog, hiking, and just exploring this area of the country and all of the unique things it has to offer.
