Mrs. Cody Hartsfield

Hi there! My name is Cody Hartsfield. I am looking forward to serving as the adaptive teacher at Summersill Elementary School. I have spent the last 6+ years teaching in the adaptive classroom setting. I have a passion for fostering student growth and advocating for the celebration and inclusion of all students with disabilities in the educational environment. I am originally from Johnston County but have recently moved back to my husband's hometown here in Onslow County. Thank you for allowing me the privilege of partnering with you in your child's care and education! It is going to be an amazing year! 

I'd like to tell you a little bit about my journey. I started in the education field as an instructional assistant in the adaptive k-5 setting and there, I found my calling. I graduated from Mount Olive University with my bachelor's degree in Psychology, cum laude. Right after, I began my Residency Teaching Program at Barton College and will be finishing up this school year. I have a passion for helping students live out their full potential and fostering inclusion, togetherness and community. I look forward to what this school year has in store for us and getting to know you and your learner.
